Suarez took his tally for the season to 13 after ruthlessly putting the Canaries to the sword with a quartet of superb strikes.
The Reds skipper said Suarez's display was one of the finest individual performances he has ever witnessed and claimed that his team-mate is approaching the level of the Barcelona and Real Madrid superstars, who are widely considered to be the world's best two players.
Gerrard told the club's official website: "I think he's getting so close to the main two, Ronaldo and Messi. If he keeps going, I think he can catch them. His fourth goal was average and it was a 30-yard free-kick, so I think that sums his performance up."
The former Ajax striker opened the scoring with an outrageous half-volley from 40 yards, before adding a second with a close range finish from Philippe Coutinho's corner.
